so here are my specs:

win2000 SP4
router: some linksys 802.11b wireless router
adapter: d-link DWL122 USB 802.11b adapter

so every time i boot up or come out of hibernation, a connection is detected but it doesn't connect to the network! it took me a good 20,30 minute of keep hitting "connect" to work! is there anyway around this? or should i wait 20 minutes next time and hit connect?

thanks im new at this wireless thing

Sounds like the prob I had for about 20 mins today where is you run ipconfig you prolly got an IP address from some unknown source rather than the router's dhcp.

Try changing the rate on the router from forced 54mbps to Auto

That fixed it for me....

or of course try a fixed IP address in the same range and subnet

Does your connection manager say your connected to your network?.. try typing ipconfig in a cmd box and see if it it has gotten an IP, and if it has if its your networks.

hmmm... I had some d-link USB adapters trying to connect to a router. The problem I had was that when the computer booted up to the login screen, we actually had to login to have the adapter hit the router. I called d-link about it and they said it was because we were using a Cisco wireless access point and not one of theirs.

I saw screw you and threw away the 8 adapters we had.

May or may not answer your question.
