My WinXP Pro doesnt shut down.

Nocturnal

Lifer
My setup is as follows:

ASUS A7N266-e (Onboard video/sound/nic)
IBM 60GXP 60 GIG HDD
256 PC2100 Crucial DDR SDRAM
300W PSU Enlight

Ok, now it doesnt shut down at all. It freezes up at that one screen "windows is shutting down."

I downloaded whatever updates there is, and I can't find the one that has to deal with this one specifically. Can anyone help me?

It only rebooted once. This was after I first installed Win XP. It rebooted fine. After that it stopped rebooting.

This has been happening for a while now. Even if I format it happens again.

I had the same problem on a board that didnt support ACPI.

soloution: on install, when theres the "checking system configuration blah blah" press F5 and select standard PC.

but if your motherboard is circa '98 or newer, it most likely supports ACPI

edit: Bah! didnt notice your specs.. hehe

hmm.. was ACPI enabled in the BIOS when you installed windows?
I think im out of ideas 😕 🙁
