RIP Windows XP, 5/30/04-6/27/04.

You were but a baby.

Debian here is going on its third year.

Obviously you lack the skills for maintaining a healthy Windows OS.

CD shattered?

Nah.

I think it was heat. I don't know. I got an IRQL Less or not Equal error, rebooted, used the system, then it died, saying some files on my X: were not listed as the right size. Now it just shows a black screen when I try to boot to Windows.

Nah, it would repair so I nuked it. It was when the install kept failing that I got suspicious.

After about 20 reboots, the computer only counted up 1GB of memory and I knew I was right.

It's too late to install it tonight, I'll just stick to Debian until I get home from work tomorrow.
