Hi,
I have a relatively cheap android tablet that works perfectly fine except the wifi is broken. I was wondering if someone can explain to me what probably happened and whether or not I could fix it somehow. Here's the story:
The tablet I have is the Filemate Identity Tab E201 if it matters. When I got it (used) the wifi was not 100%. As all android devices, to use it properly, you need a gmail account, so I tried to set that up but every time I did it would say it couldn't establish a reliable internet connection... even though the signal indicator was at 4 bars. Something was definitely strange because I could use the browser perfectly fine. The only issue was linking it to a gmail account so that I could use the email and download apps from the market. Anyways, I figured out a work around after searched some forums that I could sign into youtube, which would force add an account, which worked. But after reading that forum, I realized a lot of the unrelated weird stuff (freezing, lagging) was happening and wanted to solve that by upgrading the firmware. Big mistake because after upgrading, I no longer get internet connection! It's strange because it scans for nearby networks and finds them but it wont connect. My network is password protected so I enter my password and it gets stuck in the authorizing phase. It will try to authorize but then disconnect. It doesnt give a warning or anything (not sure if it should). I tried removing all protection from my network (password, firewall) and try connecting like that, but this time it gets stuck in the "obtaining an IP address from network" phase. It will try for a little while and then automatically disconnect. At no time during these phases do I ever get an internet connection.
With this information, can anyone tell me whats happening here? Is there a way to fix this? I'm kind of bummed that the wifi on my tablet is broken... makes having a tablet kind of useless...
I tried sharing internet through the bluetooth but I couldnt get that to work. The bluetooth does work though... I paired it with my computer and send a file across just to test it.
