We have had practically every console since the original Atari. NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, Dreamcast, PS1. Now she wants a Game Cube. I can't tell you the last time we turned any console on (play everything on PC nowadays...) She simply loves anything Zelda, and she saw ads for the new GC Zelda games and now she wants a GC.

I know Xbox is better than GC (no flames please ;)), but is the GC worth it? My computer (see sig) games very well, so I can't justify an Xbox. Are any of the cool Xbox games going to be ported to PC? (Halo, etc)

just a thought.. if you have practically every console since Atari, then what's the harm of getting another one, or two? :)

if you can only get one, it is wiser to get a gamecube as it has more games that are exclusive to it.

games like halo/splinter cell are set to come out on other platforms just a bit later.

oh, and it's cheaper :p

Just get both then. :D

Oh and don't even consider getting GC only if you are a sports fan, or wanna play online.
games like halo/splinter cell are set to come out on other platforms just a bit later.
Pick some better examples ;)
Halo has been out for Xbox for like what...15 months or something? Halo 2 for XBox by the time Halo is on PC.
Splinter Cell looks like sh!te on PS2/GC compared to Xbox...sorry but it does :Q It looks fine on the PC but that's it.

Another advantage of Xbox is virtually every game supports 480p and Dolby 5.1. And a LOT of games are now supporting 16:9...it's definitely the console to own if you are considering a HDTV and have a nice sound system.

Your wife is right, you're wrong. This will come up often in a marriage, with the same conclusion.

Gamecube has bunch of awesome games that you arn't going to find anywhere else. Zelda, Metroid, and Mario stand out. But then they've got all these kooky games like Animal Crossing, which also rock. I'd go with the wife on this one :)

Xbox is better!

But for a wife I'd say GC is definitely the best console, because it has more simple games aimed at 7 year olds so a wife should be maybe able to play them. :p

GameCube has a deal going right now get free game with purchase and if u pre-order the new zelda u get the previous two zelda's on one disc frree! This was at Gamestop ;) I bought a gamecube+free metroid prime, preordered zelda for $15 buck, got a disc with the ocarina of time and another zelda game on it for free due to pre-ordering. Bought Resident Evil 0, Wave Runner Game, a 251 block memory card, wavebird, RF Switch for my multiple consoles for $351 bucks not a bad deal for three free games ;)

The gamecube is a pretty good little console. It wouldn't be the first on my list to buy, but I'm glad I own one. There are several really good games available including Metroid, Monkey Ball, Mario, and hopefully Zelda in the near future. Also, the gameboy addon is coming next month which opens up the gameboy library for use on the gamecube. While these aren't going to knock your socks off graphically, there are several good old school games for GBA including Castlevania, Advance Wars, Mario Advanced, etc.

If the wife wants a GC, I think it'd be wise to get it. You'll enjoy it.

Go with GC. Resident Evil is all you need. ;) Not to mention Metroid and Zelda.

(I just bought an Xbox last night to compliment my GC and PS2.... but I swear I'm not an addict ;) )

Gamecube: $139-149
Metroid Prime: Free w/ Gamecube
Super Smash Bros. Melee: $30
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker preorder: $15+35
Legend of Zelda Orcana of Time: Free with preorder
Master Quest: Free with preorder
251 memory card: $15-25
2nd controller: $15-35 ($15 for 3rd party, $35 for wireless Wavebird)
$249-289 for a console, some games, and all the accessories you'll need.

The Gamecube really is a nice console.
(note: I have 3 consoles hooked upto my TV at home, and two handhelds, I'm not a fanboy for a particular make)

Get the Game Cube.

GC really is better.

And the XBox is about to collapse...

I have both and I enjoy both. If it means keeping the wife happy, get the GC. Just be happy that she WANTS you to buy a new game console!
