My WHS died

I boot the server and there is a message indicating I need to specify a proper boot device before poceeding. I rebooted and entered the BIOS. I notice that there is no recognition of the hard drive. I shut down the server and try unplugging the SATA and power cables for the HD. That doesn't work. I haven't tried replacing the SATA cable or the HDD power cable, however. Has my hard drive died? How should I proceed?

I'd much appreciate any help from someone more technical than me.

Thanks.

Certainly sounds like your Primary hard disk has failed. You could try attaching it as a secondary drive to another PC and see if it's recognized there.

The "best" repair technique will depend on your situation. Some considerations before starting a repair:

How many disks do you have on your WHS?
What do you keep on your WHS? Backups of client PCs? Shared folders?
Did you have Folder Redundancy enabled for any of the Shared folders?
Do you have backups of your Backup database? Do you care about it?
Do you have backups of your Shared folders?
