I just got my 1.2 Thunderbird in today from Allstarcomponents.com, and I was surprised to see it was a green core :0 When I looked more closely, it looked like all the l1 bridges were NOT connected :0 WTF?!?! My video card should be coming in tomorrow, so I should be able to see what is up then.... but this is kinda messed. Here is the number on the core..

well, not all the 1.2 ghz tbirds have the bridges connected just most of them from what I understand. It's all luck of the draw. do you have any other tbirds to campare that "green" one to. in some light the blue can kinda look green unless you have another chip to compare it to.

Well, i've used alot of durons in that room before, and it looks just the same as they did... So what's the deal..will I have to unlock the bridges now? That sucks if I do because I already put the AS and PAL6035 on.... The Alpha is a Biatch to put on... :(

Ok, I sent my chip back to AMD to check to see if it was a remarked 1.2... Today, to my great surprise, a FedEX box was on my doorstep containing a NEW 0101 Tbird 1.2 , a tshirt, and an AMD ball!!! The letter from AMD said that they had sent me a replacement for the remarked 1.2!! I'm now running at 1350MHz, and doing great!!

Gotta tell you guys, the 1ghz Tbird and KT7A is the way to go!!!!!!!!!!1

Just returned a 750 Tbird that maxed out at 900 mhz on the KT7A.

Got a 1 ghz Tbird, and it is loping along at 1.38 ghz !!!!!!!!!!!! (9.5 x 145/35) on cheap PC133 ram. SI mem rating 580/640. Max temps under SI burn-in test 113 degrees F cpu, and chassis temp is at ambient in antec sx830, with Vantec 6540d (?) fan. Was able to push to 1.407 but will wait for my pc150 sdram to arrive. Both chips were unlocked using hb lead.

Anand Tech and others were right...the 1ghz Tbirds are dresden copper, and are "born to be wild".

I'm a little slow on the synthesis, but my rave comments on my 1ghz Tbird (which I run at 1.38ghz, 145x9.5, and capable of 1.407ghz with generic PC133, see above) refer to an
ALLSTARCOMPONENTS purchased cpu!!!!!!!!!!!

More info is that my chip came in a sealed OEM non-static pkg with info: AMD T-Bird T7-1--- Socket A, WT020701.

I RMA'ed a motherboard with allstarshop. They said they'd send a new one, because the last one was defective. I got teh same board back. 5 weeks late too. And it still didn't work. Now, they won't accpet my phone calls, or emails.

Allstarshop SUCKS.

And you should contact the Federal Trade Commission, because they have stolen from you, which is a criminal offense, and seing as they did it in interstate commerce, it is a Federal criminal offense.

moonkat:

Thats good that Allstar came through for you, but that doesn't make up for all the crap they've pulled on people. Congrats on a good chip, but would you feel the same way if it didn't overclock at all?

Whalen, what kind of packaging did your original tbird come in from Allstar? Was it a factory sealed antistatic bag also?I am wondering if they or their gray market supplier are repackaging them in sealed antistatic bags. The reason I am asking this is because I bought a 950mhz tbird from them and it came in a sealed antistatic bag.I am wondering if I too got a remarked cpu.It is running at 57C idle with a fop32 and artic silver with a dedfault vcore at 1.776 on a A7V133 mb.

Wow, I'm surprised you had problems with Allstar...they were rated pretty good when I bought my C433, Slocket II, and InWin S500 from them back in March.

Well, I guess they can't screw people EVERY time they sell something... ;) My friend also bought some PC 100 ram from them a few years ago, and they tried to stick him with crappy PC66...

There is even remarked retail cpu, any cpu could be remarked.
It's better to buy from a reliable retailer.
