If you do not care to read which will probably be most of you then at least d/l the videos to see what WeightLifting is about if you do not know. I'm really happy as I tried to beat 85kg Snatch and 102.5kg Clean and Jerk for 18months and have not done so until today:D (pats self on back and hopes to lift more at next comp if not train some more :cool;)

And yes I am the dude that recommends people do squats + other leg work and back work to whatever routine you are doing.

8th August 2003:
I weighed in @ 76.450kg. Down 2.7kg from 6 weeks ago. Then i weighed in at 79.150kg. It was going to be interesting to see what I weighed in as I have been doing 4miles of running 5x a week for 2 weeks. Then stopped as it was tiring me out from O-Lift training. I continued to do my Tennis every week which I play 7sets or so a week.

I am looking bigger, stronger, faster and leaner so that would explain the 2.7kg drop in weight.

Snatch: 1st: 80kg: Got it. Was easy. 2nd: 90kg: Got it. Felt good. Felt heavy off the floor and felt heavy when I was at the bottom of the Snatch

3rd: 92.5kg: Failed it. I got the pull nice and high. Got the balance at the bottom then I was moving up I lost it. But it was good to get it that high though. Showed I am expecting more next time.

Was good as my PB at the time was 85kg. You see a big jump between 80 to 90kg as I think there is no point equaling PB's but to only better them. This competition wasn't important so I thought fvck it lets go heavy.

Clean and Jerk: 1st: 95kg: Got it. Was good. Clean was easy. Jerk felt solid. Was a tidy lift. Clean was so high, could have power jerked it really.

Video:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ph.chea/Koing%2001%20Clean%20and%20Jerk%2095kg%20P.mov

I decide to go for a new PB here. Current PB was 102.5kg. Have tried for about 18months and COULD not Jerk it. I Cleaned 105kg in every competition but could not Jerk it. So I I wanted this. Had 6 weeks of my coach and trainig lifts to help sort out my Jerk. The 3 training sessions doing singles before the competition I hadn't managed to get 100kg in any of them. Failed it 5 times :(.

2nd: 105kg: GOT IT. Was shocked at how I managed to Jerk it. Clean was good. Easy pick up. Set myself nicely. Jerk was out of this world for me. My Jerk had always been the weak point for me. My right knee as you can see is about 5inch's off the floor or even tha. It was SO low to the floor. Technique was good. Wasn't rounding my back due to the weight on my chest, chest stayed up, th bar didn't roll down m chest, elbows stayed high, arms punch'ed up and back fast.

Video:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ph.chea/Koing%2002%20Clean%20and%20Jerk%20105kg%20P.mov

Now my coach decides to go to 110kg for me next. Never Cleaned 110kg before as I could never Jerk 105k.

3rd: 110kg Got it. COULD NOT BELIEVE it. I dont' know where the hell the Jerk came from. But it was good. Everything was tight. Clean was good. Split was good.

Video:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ph.chea/Koing%2003%20Clean%20and%20Jerk%20110kg%20P.mov

Total: 200kg (440lbs)

Snatch: 90kg up on 85kg Clean and Jerk: 110kg up on 102.5kg.

Was very happy. Didn't better my lifts for about 18 months. It was seriously annoying me.

Very satifying managing to achieve something you could not do for the past 18months!

I prefer Powerlifting myself, it uses true strength instead of momentum and it also lessens the chance of back injuries. Sadly Olympic style is more popular around the world.

Some day Powerlifting will be a Olympic event.

Wow, you look pretty small to be throwing around that kind of weight man! Could just be the video making you seem small though, congrats!

Well done dude! Snatch is especially hard, you gotta have a lot of coordination and control in addition to hella strength.

Wow! - nice job, man.

And you are still agile enough to to do that jupming on top of stuff that you mentioned a couple of weeks ago.
Good for you!!

Cool stuff Koing. I'd like to try my hand at O-lifting eventually, too bad it is so underground in the US. Most people here have to really go out of their way to find a gym and coach.

Good thing you had quick feet on that last jerk and caught yourself, that could have been ugly :Q ;)

Thanks guys:D. It means a lot to me that I *finally* was able to better my PB's. Took 18 months to do it! Was EXTREMELY annoying to not get them over and over again :(.

I don't bench press much. As more strength in your legs and trunk is more prefered them big biceps or a big bench press. It adds more weight which isn't as beneficial as weight to your legs. In O-Lifts the leg speed and strength rules.

I now bench press once a week to do some upper body conditioning. I can bench press 80kg about 2months ago. May hit 82.5kg or 85kg but not sure. I'll just bench once a week.

I can back squat 145kg to rock bottom. I can front squat 125kg to rock bottom. You see a lot of people half ass it and do very small dips or a bit further. Not using much of a range. Powerlifters go to half way and thats to me isn't a full squat to me. Full would mean going all the way down.

I can also do 20 long arm pull ups. But in the end its technique and power (the combination of speed and strength) that will get you far in WeightLifting. Not bicep or bench press. All about leg and your trunk. Arms don't do much if you notice. They are merely hooks to pick up the bar and to hold it. The power is transfered from legs to everything else.

Yeah Snatch is hard but I'm better at it then my Clean and Jerk but now its improving.

Of course I'm still agile. The video was done after the last competition which was about 6 weeks ago. I could maybe jump a bit higher this time. Not sure but I could still do a 135cm standing tuck jump.

Well I am only 5"10 and 76.45kg. Not big or small. But my coach thinks my ideal lifting weight for my height is about 94kg so at that I would be much bigger. The best lifters can Snatch TWO TIMES and Clean and Jerk just a bit more. To me that is CRAZY. Being able to Snatch 2x body weight and more on Clean and Jerk. One of my great goals would be to Clean and Jerk 2x my body weight :D. Will take 8+years to achieve though.

Thanks again I'm just happy that I broke my PB's.......

Hmm I dunno, don't you think you'll need a strong chest and shoulders to lift that bar over your chest eventually... then again, I don't clean/jerk so I couldn't tell ya... I'm deep squatting 350 lbs, deadlifting 375, and benching 335 (weigh 183 lbs, 5-7). Maybe I should try a clean and jerk hehe.
