you should read over your TOS and maybe ask for a refund and get a new hosting company

I'm sure the TOS includes a clause releasing them from liability due to unexpected hardware failure.

Definitely! Terabyte has got to be one of the worst hosts i have encountered. While my host has had 2 hard drive crashes in the past month(damn IBM :|) my site was only down for a few hours while they stuck another hard drive and copied everything back over from the other hard drives on the RAID. If you plan to change hosts I highly recommend Endore. Except for the incident with the hard drives they have had almost no downtime in the several months that I have been hosting with them. :D

EDIT: Oh yeah, if you decide to go with endore can you put shawnscomputers.com as the referrer. Thanks. :D

I'm reading their TOS right now. I'm really thinking about changing hosts now.

ILikeSprite, I think I jinxed it a couple of weeks ago when I said that Tera-byte has been good so far. I think I'm really thinking about going with Endore this time. I should have picked it before. btw, do they really let you have 1gb of space?

edit: I'll definetly put shawnscomputers.com as referrer if I sign up

Yup, even their cheapest plan offers 1GB of storage. Also I can't find where it says it on their site but their server supports Coldfusion. :D

Yeesh!!! Our customers would have my head on a stick if I told them their site was gone!!! I don't think we do great backups like we should but at least with have SCSI RAID 1 or SCSI RAID 5! As well has the occasional tape backup...

Yeah I remember reading somewhere before that they had CF. I'm not really looking for CF cause I mainly use php and that's also what my forum uses.

I just noticed one thing. Endore doesn't have mysql. That sucks cause I need that so I might not be able to go with Endore.

Anyone know any other options?

Even the $8.25/mo. webhost I have (Readyhosting) has backups daily... and they've proven it to me too. For what they offer, I think you should give them a serious look-see. Sorry to hear about your loss though.

Hey that looks good. 500mb webspace with unmetered data transfer looks awesome. I don't know if I wanna shell out $25 extra for sql though.

That's nuts as well. It is very possible to have your entire RAID corrupted. Happened a couple of times to me in the past.

There is no excuse for not having backups.

man I think I'm gonna have to stay with Tera-Byte. I can't find any other hosts that offer php, mysql and all that space for $100 a yr.

Looks like they got everything back up now. I think I'm gonna stay there now and just upload everything all over again. :|

Moral of this story: If your host doesn't offer backup, backup your host yourself

Well Endore plans to support MSSQL and MySQL within the next 3-6 months. But that would probably be too long of a wait......... :-/

Sorry for your loss, but that is why Tera-byte has a feature called "Scheduled backup".

I've never had a problem with their service. They have fast servers (which is what I look for in a host) and awesome account management support.
