My WD 320GB SATA II rates at 60 MB/s ... Good ?

Onboard SATA Controller.

Should'nt a 300MB/s (SATA II) pipe deliver more than 60MB/s ?

Tested using HD Tach in long mode.

Look at Anands Western Digital and Seagate: 320GB Grudge Match - 320GB Seagate 7200.10 Its result in HD Tach was 68.7MB🙂

Edit: that 300MB/s is max burst speed. Fastest drives are about 75MB/s seqential read.
