My way of saying "Thanks!"

Just thought I'd drop y'all a note to say that I sucked it up and rebuilt two of my "downed" machines today....

I've had two or three machines running all along, but once again, I have ALL 5 of my machines running 24/7 again with the "Cow" on board! 😉

Question: What's the top priority right now: RC5 or OGR? I currently have 'em all munchin' on OGR stubs....

Thanks again,

OGR-25 we have a shot at gaining the #1 spot....we are #1 in RC5, but we'll likely be taken over in that in a few months (probably end of January or so)....I guess its your pick in that sense 😉

Yeah, it's pretty much a "personal preference" thing at this point Clay. I'm not familiar with exactly what systems you're running, but you might take a look at the various efficiency comparisons around and decide to do a "blend" of both contests. 🙂

Thunder,

PIII-903 single
PIII-784 dual
PII-558 single
Celly 504 single
Celly 558 single

They seem to be equally adept at either.... I'll leave 'em on OGR 'til they NEED to switch to something else....

Thanks y'all
Clay

Okay Clay, I have the perfect plan for ya! 🙂

If you're keen on OGR, then leave 'em on that until the #1 spot is safely back in our hands. THEN, on that day, move one of them over to RC5... If we still maintain #1 in the dailies for OGR for the next day, then move another over to RC5. Same for the next and the next, etc. If you ever see us miss the #1 spot in OGR for more than a day, then consider mooving one back, etc. 🙂

You've got the idea, Thunder.

Let's put just enough power to let us stay at the top of OGR and convert all other machines slowly to RC5, depending on suitability ofcourse.

IMO, the OGR die-hards can keep the No.1 spot on their own, with a little bit of help of the K6 machines. They s#ck at RC5 and rock at OGR.

It is your call, Clay. 😛

Thanx for the help. /sniff sniff/

I saw cautery's bit of ambitiousness, and decided that I should get off my rear and do some work too, so I got a 2nd ethernet adapter in my linux machine and networked up 3 486 dx2/66's. i'm supposed to be getting a pentium 150 wednesday, and will add that too. they will all be doing ogr, cause im a golomb freak. it'll take the 486's a week to do 200 stats units, but hey, every little bit counts.

hopefully that combined with everyone elses little extra efforts will boost our output enough to get us past the unmentionable team within a week.
