My watercooling plans

I also realize that probably not everything ('specially the rad) is oriented properly, but I will work that out l8r. My "reservoir" will be just some sort of good plastic container (to save a FEW $$$). I have all parts except the fridge. Bought off eBay and here for less than $100.00 so far.

1 pump should be enough to push/pull through this system? I only have 8 feet of tubing so it won't have to far to go.

The cold water from reservoir okay or not? Too much condensation on tubing? Anyway, this is my "idea" to cool a hot P4 Oc'd 15% at 4.16.

ummm seems like your trying to make a passive radiator?

have you consulted my guide on watercooling? I laid out 3 different classes of radiators normally used in h2o cooling. Your design looks like the passive style.

This will only work depending on the volume of water you have in the fridge. Even then, you'll have a high chance of burning your motor as fridge's werent ment to be kept on all the time.

My recomendation is use the fridge for drinks, and get a hobbyist rad. You'll have problems with the fridge over time, and AC's work better as chiller, not a fridge. Expecially a small one that size.

Thank you aigomorla, I just opened your thread, and will read it next.

But other than the fridge idea, will a 370GPH inline Via Aqua Pump be enough http://star.walagata.com/w/gonzo69/021107001.JPG

are you going to submerse it in a reservoir? Remember its VERY hard to perfectly seal a fish pump.

Also in computer watercooling, we messure things by head pressure and not flow. So from your design, it looks like your gonna need fairly strong pumps. Im assuming something around a 18W DDC-2.

MAX discharge head is 20.2 ft
Flow is 120GPH.

The two numbers are not in relation. So look on the via and see how high it can shoot water.

Just did this today. Found out that with the side off, my temps drop by 5%C. The problem was my nosy cats, and I could just see them sticking their stinking nose into the case and getting shocked (or WORSE...shorting something out) 🙂

So I went to Ace Hardware and bought some screen for $4.00. Temps up a little, but not too bad.

The cable coming out is an SATA, so I can hook up the spare drive sitting on top of the case at the moment.
