Well, the rumors about the 5D-MkII appear to be pretty accurate. It will be a 21 Megalpixel monster and will be pretty revolutionary from what keeps getting leaked.

It also appears that Canon is about to debut the EF 24-70 F2.8L IS and EF 35 1.4L MkII. The former will be heavier than the non-IS version sadly. The latter will get all sorts of wonderful updates for digital.

This pretty much sounds like my dream setup:

EOS-5D MkII
EF 17-40 F4L
EF 24-70 F2.8L IS
EF 70-200 F4L IS
EF 35 1.4L MkII

My wallet is already shaking in its boots at the thought of it.

Though I dunno if I can justify all that since it is after all just a hobby.

Same here, waiting to see the final specs and what price it comes in at. A poor man's 1Ds3 with updated goodies.

Exactly how much do you anticipate that bundle being priced at?

Meh, I'll just get a 5DMk2 and stick a 50mm f/1.8 on it. :)

In cases of extreme digicamlust, the wallet suddenly becomes irrelevant. :)

Waiting, . . . waiting, . . . waiting . . . (sigh!)

Canon's 70-200mm f/4L IS is sharper than the f/2.8. For a 21MP FF sensor, that might make a notable difference.

I'd trade a bit of sharpness for 2.8 and IS any day, being a wedding photog.

With 21MP, a bit of sharpening, printing usually at most 8x10's, you won't see a difference large enough for any client to appreciate. You might have some 11x14's or so but rarely does anyone print 16x20's or larger.

Is the 70-200/4 sharper than the 70-200/2.8 at all apertures? I understand carrying the 70-200/4 instead of the 70-200/2.8 for weight and size reasons, but if the 70-200/4 is sharper across the board then that's an issue.

on the 20D they're almost impossible to tell apart, according to slrgear. as a 21 MP 35 mm sensor is just about the same pixel density as the 20D, that's probably more telling than the 5D results (which would be about a 4.7 MP sensor on aps-c).

Isn't that amazing how that happens? That would be so cool if it actually came out this month after all of the hype this year. Oh well, I'll just go pick some more money off of the money tree ;)

Hmm... Well if the 5D MkII streets for $2500 or less I might have to reconsider the 50D.

It's looking like a heavyweight bout in the mid-range pro market:

Sony Alpha A900 - 24MP Full Frame
Canon 7D - 21MP Full Frame
Canon 3D/5D2 - 16MP Full Frame
Nikon D700 - 12MP Full Frame

I am glad I waited on my D700 purchase; most of my lenses are on standby to be sold in case I need to switch systems.

Things I'll look at: high ISO quality, speed, AF

Perhaps, but I can't imagine the A900 will even be a viable option for professionals. There simply isn't enough support and equipment for that platform (yet).

I think it's a bit ridiculous to bother switching systems between Canon/Nikon if you already have good glass.

There really isn't going to be such a huge difference that I can imagine it being worthwhile.
