Hi, I have a Guillemot 3Dprophet SDR Geforce.

when i touch its ram, i can merely touch it for a second.
After a(one) timedemo using unrealtournament, the ram gets boiled!!!

I wonder if this is a problem or will it be a problem in the future.
There is no heatsink on ram.

are u using stock speeds on those rams? if they are that hot (can't keep touching), with original clock, try adding a Ram sinks on it. It can't hurt unless u install them incorrectly. and it'll only help life of ram's by lowering the temperature. gl

i am using retail hsf.
The ram is way too hot, but the chip is almost fried.

I can't even touch the chip, i can feel the heat that is coming out from the chip.

Should i change the hsf?
I have a 586 hsf and a retail CuMine HSF.

It shouldn't be that hot... my GeForce 2 GTS with the RAM at 275Mhz can be touched easily after a lot of action. Maybe the board is bad?

Hawk,

You have to remember, the SDR GeForce is based on .22mu core, whereas your GTS is .18mu.

faye,

over at Millisec they are selling RDJD K601s w/ 17cfm fans, for $6.50. This will take up two pci slots, but it is well worth it. I had a intel heatsink fan from Radioshack, with a 19.1CFM fan on my SDR GeForce, and it was always cool to the touch. The K601 is a much better design, and also cheaper. It should do the trick to letting you overclock, and staying cool.

THe heatsink you have shouldn't make your GeForce hot either though...did you clear off the epoxy, and lapdown the heatsink and GPU? I sure hope you're not using thermal tape. Also, are there any hot components around your GeForce? You might consider making blowholes in your case, or picking up a card cooler, from The Card Cooler. These work very well from what I've heard. If you have any more questions, please feel free to PM me.
