My video card choked, might be getting a new one

I was putting my computer back together, and when I powered on, i noticed that it did not boot up. I pulled out the video card and found out that was the problem (It had started smoking, definately not a good sign). so, I will be getting a new video card soon, but I haven't been reading up on the specs and stuff on the new cards that are out. Can someone recommend one for me? I've heard that the radeon and the kyro are pretty good. The one that crashed on my was the Geforce2 MX, and I'd like to try something new other than Nvidia. My system specs are, duron 800, winME, 256 RAM, Abit Kt7. Thanks.
