My vid card settings say PCI????

niggles

Senior member
So I just checked the section of properties, settings, advanced and went into the adapter tab and then clicked on properties of my ATI 9600.... it says under location: PCI bus 3, device 0, function 0
now it's in my AGP slot... does this make sense? is this what it's supposed to say if I want it running in AGP mode, or is it saying it's part of the PCI bus.... not sure.... anyone?

You sure sep? I would take this to mean the card is running in PCI mode, which could kill performance...

But, I haven't used many ATi products, not a 9600, so I'm not entirely sure.

NOPE! On a quest to verify!

Checked two systems. One with an ATI 7500 AGP card and the other is an Nvidia TnT2. Both read PCI. One is PCI3 and the other is PCI1.

...Now I'm sure!

Make sure you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your system.

And run the dxdiag tests to make sure your card passes all of them.
