I got a little mad yesterday and decided to chat with Tmo about this. Tmo's official response is that there MAY be a fix soon but no promises. They also are not able to do warranty or insurance swaps because of GPS issues.
People have posted GPS fixes.
I can't get to them from work but I did the fix where you access the service menu with the #*#* method and GPS works better now.
I am a little miffed about Froyo as I want flash support.

I'm running Bionix which includes a GPS fix. However I'm just upset that Samsung and/or Tmo don't seem to care. I've ran Eugene's Froyo which works pretty good but the button mapping isn't 100%.
Basically I want a G2. Once they are actually released, I plan on making a trip to my local Tmo store to pitch a fuss.
I may go the bitch-2-tmo route. Sh!t, Ive been with them since the 90s when they were still omnipoint. They owe me since the behold 2 fiasco. But the screen is so nice on the vibrant, the G2 looks nice but I really dont want the HW KB or the lost screen real estate. But I do want GPS as I use it all the time. Man, this really stinks. Tmo may not have the vrz or att clout but there are millions of loyal users who keep getting shafted.
the thing about Tmo is they really do try to take care of you. Once the G2 is physically available, I'm sure they will do the right thing.
Us folks that have Vibrants are generally their best customers. I find it hard to believe they wouldn't do whatever they can to keep customers that are spending that much every month.
The $25/month Virgin plan should be a good motivator as well.
there are custom ROMs and the community is very active. The problem is that there are no Froyo builds out there for the devs to get the drivers etc. from. The i9000 alraedy has a Froyo build out for it so that wouldn't be a bad option.
Ok, continuing on with my basic questions... if the i9000 has a Froyo build, then can't the community take an image of it, and then pull the drivers from that?
The problem with the i9000 for me as I recall was that it didn't support TMo's US 3G frequencies at all, and only supported one of the two AT&T 3G frequencies. So I looked at it for a while, played with it, and then decided against it and kept my iPhone.
So what you're saying is I should be upset about my $195 non-contract brand-new Vibrant that UPS just delivered a couple hours ago?
$195 non-contract vibrant. How the heck did you manage that? Do want, could use it on mysimplemobile.
I intend on unlocking it and using it with an iPad sim, data only. 2gb = ~3000 minutes VOIP.
Sheer dumb luck?yeah but...how did you get it for 195 without a contract?
I might not be upset for $195 but I paid $500
Apparently stripped for all US models: the international one has it integrated onto the Broadcom GPS/Bluetooth chip that's giving many people (not me) headaches. (Samsung picked a new chip that hadn't gotten its drivers tested in real world devices before.)On a somewhat side note, the FM radio, is it actually stripped (HW) by tmobile or just deactivated?
So, can anyone speak to the likelihood of complaining about the vibrant in a tmo store and getting it switched to a g2? My Vibrant's gps causes it to crash a lot and I would love to switch it out for a phone without so many issues.
