Well sort of... I do want a real computer :)

I'm gonna build a very compact 'puter with an nforce board (when there's a good one available).
Size about 30*30 cm's (~ 12*12") max.
I'm gonna fit a single HD, a DVD/CD-RW combo drive, and an athlon 1200+

Now I get 3 problems:
1) Where to put the powersupply, and 2) how to cool the beast. I haven't decide on how high to make it - but I want it real small. (Possibly a tower...)

3) Is the case. I haven't been able to find a case thats suitable, so it's probaly going to be homemade, but if anyone has a good idea, it would save me lots of trouble ;)

BTW... If it had better graphics, i'd wan't an EZgo

For the powersupply, I would take off the case which will make it smaller. Just make sure to be careful with it because they carry a lot electricity in them even when they are turned off.

For cooling, I think it would be ideal if it was a metal case(aluminum would be best) and somehow tie the heatsink into the case so the case can disperse the heat away from the cpu, and have at least one intake and one exhaust fan that will move air by the cpu

I was just looking at how atox cools their cpu and it looks very interesting.

From what I can tell, they use a copper plate that extends several inches out from the proccessor and is bent straight up. Then there is a fan next to the part that is bent straight up and blows air down the side, and then where it is bent up, the air will flow accross it straight through the heatsink, and then there is an exhaust fan sucking hot air out.

Look on their site for a pic of what I am trying to explain.

I wonder how well something like that would work in a normal desktop pc instead of blowing air straight down on the heatsink.

Well... it shouldn't be a standard case... I'm considering building all of it into an aluminium carryingcase...

And about the xBox... I don't want some legacy micro$oft thing - part of the idea is having a fileserver for LANparties, a box for linuxetc., but also a machine that actually plays games. And I want all the flexibility of my own machine, but small enough to carry in a bag - and i ain't gonna pay the price of a laptop, when I really doesn't need to use it "on the move", just need to move it around easily.

well thanks for the ideas

Look into 1U server cases they are very small and compact. They come with there own PS and with an nForce board all you would need is the processor, nForce mobo, Processor, HDD and 1U case (with PS).
