Ahh Wantagh. Bastards. I'm literally not even 10 miles away from the towns that do have it, but it's still not available where I am.

People over at DSL Reports report actual speeds of 13mbps down, and over 1.25mbps up.

i just got fios, multiple speedtests show about 14.5mbit download and 1.75mbit upload. of course, this was to a New York server (i live in NY). when testing to West Coast servers, speeds dropped to like 5mbit - 10mbit download and .5mbit - 1mbit upload. but thats a given with any connection.

in real usage i have easily and regularly hit 220KB/s upload speeds, i have yet to see an impressive download maximum. i moved from Cablevision (damn their upload capping, they suspended my account), where the max I ever saw was 1375KB/s down (about 11mbit) and 120KB/s up (about 1mbit).

but i have a question for you technology experts out there... cable afaik is asynchronous: if i use my full upload it chokes my download speed. is fibre asynchronous or synchronous? can i get the full upload speed while also getting full download speed? one would hope "new" tech like this would be synchronous

1.25Mbps is not even close to 2Mbps ... what's up with that ?

They quote "speeds up to" so it doesn't mean they guarantee it 24/7.
