My Cyberpower AVR1250 UPS has the pc-shutdown software. The UPS connects to the PC via the 9-pin serial cable. The software opens on startup, shows you the numbers (status) and then minimizes itself to the systray.
About two weeks ago, the numbers came up gray-out, meaning that the UPS and the PC weren't communicating. I switched the cable from COM1 to COM2 and all was well.
Yesterday, the grayedout started again. There's nothing wrong w/the cable. The UPS itself is fine...just the two aren't communciating.
This is a silly question...but I don't know the answer; are there more than two COM ports? My mobo only has two, but in the software it says "UPS is connected to:" and you can pick ports 1 thru 5. I haven't tried any of the other ports within the software thinking that if the cable was on port one, then the software would have to be set to com one, and so forth.
I have an email into Cyberpower tech support, but thought I'd query you guys too. Thanks.
