My UPS humms, is this okay?

I just got a Tripplite 700 UPS and it has a slight buzzing noise. Anyone know if this is normal?

Also, can I rest it on its side? It would fit better under my desk and then I could also see the lights on it.

Buzzing is a common response from electrical systems, especially big battery backups. I would not worry about it, unless it becomes loud enough to annoy you.

You're more than welcome to place it on it's side, as an UPS has no moving parts. Mine is quite happy in that position.

You should hear my comp. With all my hard drives and fans it sounds like an airliner, lol.

Personally, I like a slight buzz - but just now and then, ya know.
