My upgraded computer lab at school makes me feel fuzzy inside

Now featuring:
Dual 800 Mhz Apple G4s with flat screen monitors and Superdrives (DVD-R) and 2.0 Ghz Pentium 4 Dells with DVD R/RWs, also with flat screen monitors.

It may just be the one room, but all that hardware on so many computers makes me feel like my 466 Celeron back in my room just isnt cutting it anymore.

My school has a lot of labs like that...for some reason they thought it important to buy 17inch lcds for all them..PCs and Macs

You should see our Laptop garden..freakin' amazing.

Maybe your school is quite different than the ones I've been to. But my first thought is: how often will you have a room full of people burning DVDs or CDs at the same time? If it were up to me, I would have not put in any of those DVD burners. With the many thousands of dollars saved I would buy a few more computers and a small server with a DVD burner in it for the room to share.

You should come see NYU and some of their labs. Its the result of stupid people with a lot of money and no sense of resource allocation, inventory management, etc. Its not even the computers, I'm just pissed my tuition money went for Aerons. Thats just not fair.

Oh, I forgot to mention the plasma TVs that are used to display signs, and half the time they don't even work.....
