I just wanted to share my experiences with upgrading.
So, I finally have migrated away from the Intel platform, and have gotten myself an AMD T-bird. I went from a PII 300, to a PIII 600, 733, 800, and now a Thunderbird 1GHz.
I replaced my o/c'ed 800 (running at 900), and Asus CUSL2-C mobo with a Thunderbird at 1000, and an Abit KT7A-Raid.
I am so happy with the increase in performance. Running my T-bird at 1333 gives me a 30% increase in benchmark scores over my previous system. Running at 1000 (133) gave a modest 5% increase.
I only have two more upgrades planned for the next 6 months or so.... a second hard drive so I can use this "raid" thing everyone talks about
, as well as an STMicro Kiro II when it comes out. Using this damned Voodoo5 is a joke!
