My Upgrade Dilemma

I have a 6600gt paired with a s939 3000+, and I would like see better performance in Battlefield2, FEAR, etc.

Presently I can get a 6800nu for $260Cdn plus shipping & taxes, but the 6600gt is now as low as $170Cdn plus shipping & taxes. My board isn?t SLI-capable, but I can get one for about $135Cdn plus shipping & taxes.

Would I be better off with the 6800nu or spending the extra paper for two 6600gt cards?

You would be better off with a new MB and another 6600gt from your choices, but have you looked at a single 6800gt or an x800xl?

Isn't the 6800nu just a hair above or right about at the levels of a 6600gt? Doesn't seem like it would be a worthwhile upgrade unless you could unlock the extra pipes...which I've heard isn't likely on pci-e models.

upgrading from a 6600gt to a 6800 would be downright silly, they are very close in performance. Your stuck man. Either buy a new mobo and go 2 6600gt's in SLI or buy one 6800GT/7800GT.

Exactly. I would personally see how much a 6800gt or higher will cost you and go from there.

Thanks for the feedback. In Canada thebest price for a 6800gt I can find is $380 plus shipping & taxes.

Maybe Nvidia will save me & release a 7600gt at $250-300 Cdn before Christmas.

It looks like SLI is the way to go for F.E.A.R.
