Hey all,

He was working with a guy whose daughter had one, but it was a stick, and she broke her leg, so she had to trade cars with her dad for a while.... So he was driving the bug. He said he was AMAZED by that thing, and that it was pretty impressive in its performance. TURBONIUM, BABY. Can anyone confirm this?

I rode in a non turbo, early model year 90something. It felt no more "haul ass" then my 2000 Protege ES

If it is the turbo it has the same motor as the Audi A4. Very easy to get over 250 hp out of it. Even if it is just the stock 2.0 litre motor it is pretty nice.

If it's the turbo version then definitely... that thing is fast... stock is around 150hp, but all you need to do is change the computer chip and you can get 200hp instantly... Without exhaust, air intake... simpy a little chip....

And since it shares the same engine as the A4 1.8T and audi TT, those chips would be quite easy to come by...

/me just ignores Zucchini
My guess would be the chip just turns up the boost, and most liekly alters the fuel and spark curve slightly to aid with higher boost levels.....

We had one for a year and it was awesome. The little flowervase still cracks me up.

This summer we traded it in for a little VW Cabrio though ;)

Just remember Design Dawg, "haul ass" is a very subjective term....if you need proof then contact Lozer!

That's true. Judging by what my uncle said about it, in Lozer terms, I bet the bug can do the 1/4 mile in a cool 6 seconds!

I've heard a lot of nice things about the new bug, but I personally think they are the most dorky looking car I have ever seen. Reminds me of those optical illusions, what's wrong with this picture!
