My TV sucks - Is it broke?

I have a Toshiba 55" LED 1080p TV from 2017. First, I have reset it numerous times. The picture is all washed out to the point where if it is a dark scene you can't hardly even see anything. If there is a lot of "black" in the scene, it appears a little pixelated. I have tried so many different settings, including recommendations on avforums.com. At times, there is a darker band around the outside edges of the TV (About 2" wide). It's about to become a target for range time. Is there a decent 55" TV in 2020 that doesn't cost a fortune? Thanks a bunch!

Should be able to get a 55" 4K UHD TV under $400, probably under $300.

id buy either of these if i was in the market for a 55" but really just spring for the 65" 😛 (*unless you are using it for a gaming monitor) then 55" is decent

It's in our living room and it is not that big. Probably 10 feet away for viewing.

82" is fine then 🙂 10 feet is a good distance.
