Probably belongs in AV&HT but oh well, I'll bite :p.

What kind of TV was it? I have a 46" Samsung DLP (720p as well) and it only cost me $1250 8 months ago. Oh and my living room is probably around that size (small apartment), but I actually wish my TV was bigger .

Congrats on the new TV.

Don't feel like you have to buy expensive cables. Good quality cables can be cheap.

See the link in my sig if you have any issues or questions once you get it.

I recommend getting your cables from monoprice.com. They charge $6 for an HDMI cable when Best Buy will charge your over $100 for the same thing with the word "Monster" on it.

Also, keep an eye on the prices of that TV over the next 60 days. Best Buy will price match themselves on any variation in price, which could be several hundred dollars. They'll also let you return for any reason within 30 days for a refund or exchange if you have buyer's remorse and decide you want a different set or see a better deal elsewhere.

Exactly which Samsung did you get by the way?

Well, you should be able to look on the back of your cable box and see what connections are there. If it is the HD box, then it probably uses an HDMI cable. If not, then it probably uses either S-video or component. If it has both S-video and component, then you should use component. If you have to buy the cable locally, I'd recommend Radio Shack. In my area, at least, they seem to have the best prices on AV cables.

Another thing you might want to check on is if Best Buy will let you use this coupon on your TV. It would save you at least $200.

Other stores might sell cables for cheaper, so you might want to look around. When it comes to buying cables, I always go to a local computer store ( http://www.unicornelex.com if you're curious as to what they have ). Some of their prices are kind of high on normal stuff, but they also carry just normal versions of cables. I had to go to them to buy a SPDIF cable that wasn't a bajillion dollars.

Samsung is kind of annoying with all their DLP sets though. I know my set isn't even available anymore, but if I remember correctly, it was superior to the other color-wheel-based sets that they had. They look fairly alike, but if you look at the button placement and such, you'll see the differences. I'll throw a pic up of mine later, I can't seem to remember the file name right now.

Oh and I bought mine from Circuit City, so I'm not too sure of the price differences between the two. I do know that CC was aggressively pricing their TVs during the last Christmas season though (I bought mine a week or so after black Friday).

Oh one bonus to remember, PC Input Mode is FTW.

Well, you could talk to the manager and see if he was willing to honor the coupon and refund you the amount. The other option is to take your set back for a refund and then buy your TV again with the coupon. Even saying that you'll do this might get the manager to honor the coupon and save his employees the hassle.

As long as there's an S-video port on both the computer and the TV, then you can. Some TVs have VGA connections as well.
