My turn for a poker thread....

Playing 3/6 limit Hold ?Em at the local Indian Casino. Just took a smallish pot from a calling station with trip kings, AK in the hole, board paired kings, she called the whole way with pp 6?s.

Very next hand, I get KcQc on the button. 6 callers in front, same lady as last hand raises, I call, SB folds, BB calls, 3 of the 6 call. 6 players, pot is at $45 preflop. Flop comes Ac-10h-2c. Bet and raise in front, I?ve flopped two draws to the nuts, I?m about a 2:1 dog to make my hand by the river, getting better than 10:1 on my money, so I call. 4 players see the turn, pot is now at $73.

Turn is 7c, I have the stone cold nuts. Bet and raise in front again, this time I make it three bets, preflop raiser caps it, I know she has a set or a lower flush, either way, she?s in trouble. All four players see the river. Pot is now $169. I?m thinking ?don?t pair the board!!?.

River comes 8c, it?s checked to the preflop raiser, who bets. I raise with the nuts, first two players call two bets cold, raiser finally thinks her set is no good, and just calls. I flip my cards and smile. Preflop raiser shows her set of aces, other two players muck (I wish I knew what they were calling with). Final pot was $217. Turned a decent session into a great one in one hand (I was up 6 big bets before this hand after 3 hours of play). Then turned around and won a live sit ?n go after I busted from a large tourney two days later. After a couple of bad weeks, I?m finally on another rush. 😀

Cliffs :
Playing poker
Flopped a good drawing hand
Turned the nuts
People bet into me
I took their $$$

Just watch Rounders over and over again. You'll get the lingo down in just a few showings 😛

What's confusing about it?

She didn't cap the river, she capped the turn with 3 to the flush on board. Not much better, IMO, but I was happy to see it.

limit games suck at low stakes. Sometimes everyone just calls till river and your odds of winning with the best starting hand gets reduced to nil.

3/6 is a very profitable game. It's been stated that a good player can make 50K a year playing 3/6 limit Hold 'Em. All a bad beat means is that you've found a profitable table.
