Fired up a game of UT2004 and about 20 seconds into the game, hard crash with heavy artifacts. Had to do a hard reboot and Windows would not start and kept rebooting. Booted into safe mode (had stripes up and down the screen) and uninstalled the video driver. Rebooted and tried to reinstall the original driver and 4 other versions with no luck. All would crash the system hard. The card was not hot (after market cooler with heatpipes). Seems as though a ram chip on the card has died (they were factory heatsinked).

She will be missed! :(

Now to the good news....

Was going to build a new rig for downstairs. Wife did not see the justification into spending hundreds of dollars for a new video card for the downstairs machine, so I was going to take a 7600GT card out of the downstairs rig and place it into the new rig. Was going to take the old 5900XT card out of the upstairs machine and place it into the downstairs rig and was going to replace the upstairs rig video card with a new, FREE AFTER REBATE Radeon 9550 card that I had forgot about. Now, because of the death of the 5900XT, I have no card to place into the new rig...how sad! :( and :D

Sorry, had to share this little video story. Now to get a mid/upper card to go with the new rig that I'll be building soon (with Q9450 most likely).
