My torchiere lamp makes my speakers buzz

It makes them buzz when it's on its dim setting, but when I turn it up to bright it doesn't cause buzzing.

This happens on any outlet in the whole place. Can I do anything to get rid of the buzz on the dim setting? The bright setting is really bright.

It's the rheostat on the dimmer. Probably try a new lamp.
Yeah, it's old (I 'inherited' it from my dad). I was only planning on using it for a few weeks. Am I damaging anything by making my speakers buzz?

are you talking about pc speakers? i'm not too knowledgeable but ive read suggestions about getting better cabling that offers more shielding. of course a new lamp would probably be the easiest thing to do.
