my toilets broke!

so i tried to flush the toilet, and it wont work... the reservoir wont fill with water. for some reason there is no water pressure going into the toilet today. i fear that the pipe may have frozen in the wall. is there any way to try and defrost it? any help people?

I suppose you could try shutting off the valve to the toilet, disconnect it and try turning it on slowly into a bucket. If water comes out you're pipe's not frozen. no water...well...

Oh man. That sux. The good news might be that your pipes haven't burst yet, but the bad news might be that night is falling, and you could well have a disaster in the making.

It sounds to me like your pipes are frozen. And you do not want them to bust. Crank up the heat in your house. If you have access to the pipes, use a blow dryer (hair dryer) to defrost. When defrosting pipes, always start from the "unfrozen" end nearest the water outlet so that pressure can be relieved (otherwise you might bust the pipes).

I think you are hosed. 🙁 But fire up that furnance pronto, maybe you'll get lucky. And absolutely do not use a torch to warm the pipes up!
 
i just looked at the pipe in the basment.... its a copper pipe, and is fine in the basement, ( a little cold) but i cant follow it after it enters the wall
 
If your pipe goes down into the basement it should not have frozen. However since you have copper pipes you can't tell anything until it warms up. Like the other guys said, heat them up!!! Good news since you have copper when it bust, and it probably will, it will only make a 1 - 1 1/2 tear in the pipe. If you can get to the pipe where it bust, with a little help from the local hardware store guy you can fix it yourself.
