So, when I bought my Audi S5 back in December, it had BF Goodrich GeForce Sport Comp 2 tires (255/35/19). Clearly I had to get winter tires for our Canadian Climate.
I noticed while driving the BF Goodrich tires, they were loud at low speeds and kind of brushed it off as maybe they were reacting differently to the cold temperatures as they are a Summer only tire.
Ended up finding a great deal on Kijiji on a set of barely used authentic Audi rims with a set of Michelin Alpine P4S tires. Those tires are amazing, paired with quattro, the car was a tank in the snow...and fun as well. Quiet, solid, and great handling (245/40/18)
Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I put the BF Goodrich back on...Jesus, I wanted to put the winters back on, these tires are awful. Extremely loud at low speeds, vibrations, uncomfortable ride...to top it off, at least one of them had a slipped belt. I decided I would drop the funds on new tires, even though the BF's had tons of tread life left, just not the tire for me, or this car I guess. My final choices were:
1. Pirelli PZero Rosso (OEM Tires)
2. Continental ExtremeContact Sport (Loved them on my Mustang)
3. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (heard nothing but good things)
Chose the Michelins. So far they feel great. Solid, comfortable, some noise, but not terrible. Plus they have a 50,000km tread life warranty which if extremely rare on an Ultra High Performance Summer tire. I love driving my car again. The last few weeks with the BF's, didn't want to drive my car at all.
