get a new card.... i never found a quiet cooler for my 4200 that i had... i ended up w/ the Thermaltake coolmod thing for the Ti4200 and it made things run cooler but i didnt have a refrence design board so i couldnt use the ramsinks. get a 6600GT and put a new cooler on it... 150 bucks and now you have a quiet card that blows the ti4200 outta the water, btw i went from TNT2 m64, GeForce4 Ti4200, GeForce 6600Gt, and now X800GTO @ X850XTPE :)

yah if i get one of those aftermarket passive cooling things, i might as well just get a new video card as these cards are probably worth only about $30-$40.

i was hoping for some kind of cheap & quick fix, maybe a program that would allow me to run the fans slower?? i think they run pretty hot, but i dont run games on this rig anymore

or just replace the fan itself for another, but i dont know if that would help.

Here are a couple that will outperform stock cooling while being quieter.

Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 1 $9.99

Cooler Master CoolVIVA $9.99

I've never used a Silencer but some people swear by them. I have a CoolVIVA on a Geforce 6800LE and it works well.

BTW #1 Both these coolers are large.

BTW #2 The CoolVIVA can have the fan on either side, or not attached at all (purely passive). You can also opt to not install the heatpipe and second side if you don't have room behind your card (shouldn't be a problem).
