well, the people i work for (construction) have had a rough time at the site we're at right now. about 1000 dollars of equipment stolen so far. the owner, of the apts we're working on, owes us a few thousand dollars (must buy computer!) and just today we found out that we're supposed to be wearing biohazard type suits to protect us from asbestos (sp?) !!!!!!!! we've been working there for over 3 months without them!! god dammit! so we may quit this job (which wouldnt bother me a bit) blah blah blah! crap whatever...

My house has these old-school shingle-style things on the outside of the house. We were thinking about getting that plastic crap that snaps into place over the walls outside, but it's a bit too expensive.

Anyway, these "shingle" things are made of asbestos. *cough*sh!t*hack* -that's right, my house is covered with asbestos shingles.

Is the asbestos in new construction? I know a lot of the laws pertaining to old/existing asbestos are over the top, seems to have created more problems than they promised to solve.

I saw this Nova special on asbestos. Scary sh!t. This man developed mesothelioma (sp?), which is cancer of your respiratory lining, after working in an asbestos factory for 2 weeks. It's highly dangerous stuff.

I think you should see a doctor as soon as possible. If your employer exposed you to health risks without informing you and providing you with protective gear, you certainly have a case.
