Hello,

I am rather new here and had a thread posted under "General Hardware" called "Finally ordered - how does it stack up". It has now been locked. I did have a few people who were sorta sulking about my choices but I in now way got hostile. After all I asked for opinions and I want answers no matter the opinion.

Was I being disciplined in some way for not building the computer exactly the way I was ordered to by the forum members? I'm a bit confused here? Where did I go wrong other than making my own decisions based upon available parts in my area?

If someone could explain it that would be appreciated. I used to run a forum of a different kind and when I did something like this I would always send a Private Message to the person having their thread locked or removed out of courtesy.

Thank you.

Your own post indicates you understand the thread 'got derailed'

Man oh man isn't this all so mature and entertaining. LOL

The comments from others degenerated into a 'bitch fest' .. which was nothing about your build.

I wouldn't take it personally... every hardware thread degenerates into "this is better... no that sucks, this is better" threads. they're better off locked. pissing contests are pointless.

Ok, fair enough. I suppose I would have to agree with you.

Thank you for the explanation. I just wanted to clarify if I was being classed as the aggressor or not in this "bitch fest".

Some people don't like ordering stuff off the net and would rather the personal interaction from a store in their home town but some obviously find that hard to take.

As guyver noted, the thread was locked because of the endless bickering by others. Your posts are fine and you're not in any trouble. The thread was closed so that the involved parties couldn't bicker anymore.

you're the one who has to use the computer... not anyone else. do what makes YOU happy.

Just as the slaves were freed in Rome, IMO the OP's thread should be unlocked and allowed to run its due course.

IMO instead of bans, certain people should just be banned from certain threads for a period of time.

Perhaps the OPs should be given the right to act as a sort of police in their own threads.

Anyhow, you may now return to your regularly scheduled moderation/posting.

Have a nice day. :)
