So this year we (my parents and I) decide to go to my brother and sister-in-law's house for their first Thanksgiving in their new house. They live just outside of Philadelphia and we live outside of Detroit. Thanksgiving was great, good food and everything... Friday night I went out drinking with my brother and sister-in-law... got home at 3 AM and made some sandwiches from the turkey leftovers and went to bed. Saturday we exchanged Christmas presents and saw Bad Santa (GREAT movie!) and had dinner at Longhorn, which sucked. The waitress was the most annoying person I ever met, and the service sucked. Anyway, Sunday around noon we left to come back to Michigan... we got about half way and traffic was backed up for almost 3 miles at a toll booth on the PA Turnpike... so that held us up... then we go through, got about 2 miles down the road and the car started sputtering and died, so my dad pulled off, and we see a bit of smoke coming out the hood, so I thought it was steam and thought we broke a coolant hose or something. My dad opens the hood and starts yelling fire... so I get out and look, and it's small, so we're lookin for somethin to put it out and my mom called 911, but it starts spreading, so my dad's like "get the sh!t out of the car!" So we start pulling our luggage and stuff out... well... long story short... we got out ok, got about 90% of our belongings out, and the car went up in flames. Completely gutted... you couldn't even tell what kind of car or what color it was... the hood burned completely through, only the hinges and hood latch left... nothing left of the leather interior... all the tires blew, the battery blew... luckily the gas tank didn't blow up.
So we eventually were taken to a hotel for the night, got up in the morning and tried to rent a car, only to find that the local car rental places don't let you take them one way, so we had to take a taxi to the Pittsburgh airport to rent a car to take one way.
What a way to end the weekend!
