I was fiddling with Real Temp earlier and it was showing my temps as pretty high. 60c idle and 71 max. It's pretty cool out tonight so I thought they sounded a little high (C2D 6550 BTW) I ran Prime 95 and they shot up quick, as I expected. I just re-ran it with the test that stresses heat. After about 8 minutes I checked Real Temp and it was reporting 100 / 98 c. I'm guessing that's 2 temps one for each core? I've never used Real Temp so I'm not sure. How accurate is this? I have an MSI Neo something or other p43 board, right now the side panel is off. I am running the stock Intel heatsink. I quit out of Prime 95 and the temps are at 80 / 77 and dropping. I'm taking a wild guess that when it was reporting 100 c and even the low 90's that was not accurate. I did order a heatsink from Newegg tonight because I don't like the stock one. But what are these numbers telling me?
My distance to TJ Max was 0 / 1 when Prime was going. Now it's 30 / 30 with my temps still dropping a little (69 for both) 100c max seems out of line hot. And last question is Real Temp even a good program to use? Speed Fan is what I ran before today but it seems to be all over the place with the numbers sometimes, and I don't perticularly like seeing flames next to my temps all the time lol. When the CPU is reporting 58 c that's not bad but seeing the flame makes me a bit uneasy that doom is heading my way.
if anyone gives me some heads up here, thanks I'm curious. I know my new heatsink will fix any problems I have, but I am interested get some opinions on this program.
