I have an Athlon AVIA T-Bird 1Ghz chip and it is runnning at 1ghz. The temperature that VIA Hardware Monitor reports is 27 Degrees C, at the coolest and 36 at the highest. How accurate is this VIA Hardware Monitor Program? I have a Lian Li PC60 and an ABIT KT7E.

I should have enough room to overclock right?

The program itself isn't a problem as far as accuracy is concerned... It's more a question of how accurate is the socket thermister.

The answer is not too good, but pretty good. Good enough to get an idea of the temp off of.

You definately have enough room to overclock. What HSF are you using? If you've got a good one, then go for it and try overclocking the sucker.

The magic number seems to be around 60C. If you can stay under that under full load, you should be ok.
