a couple days ago my new T-bird overclocked fine. I had it set to 1.1ghz, but apparently that was too high cause it crashed after awhile. i set it to 1.05ghz, but now it'll only run at default mutliplier, 8. It can't be the level 1 bridges, because they were connected earlier plus it will POST at 1.1ghz. and It came unlocked.

Why wont it read the multiplier factor as 10 ?!?!

Tbird 800 guarenteed at 1.05ghz (copper)

Are the L1 bridges connected from the factory or are they pencil unlocked? If it was pencil, redo the lines.

Many of these so called 'pre-tested' BIRDS have the bidges connected with pencil. They also have the L7 bridges modded for higher voltage.
Check out your Core voltage and re-do the L1 bridges, my preference is defogger repair fluid. BTW what HSF do you have ??

Core voltage was never modded, and I doubt that the L1 bridges are the problem. It will post at 1.1ghz. Any other ideas?

I just experienced the same problem on my Overclocked Duron 600.It was using 8.5 Clock but can now only use even numbered CF 600,700,800,etc.This all happened after a crash as I reached my limit while overclocking.I am using the Abit KT-7,crucial 128 PC133.Any help will be appreciated.

Thermal grease squeezed out and creating tiny shorts interacting with pencil marks, Do it properly with defogger fluid, it'll work.

AFAIK the KT7 reverts to default speeds if the overclock fails.

Nothing new, just some confirmation for ya. When I set up my system to begin with, I tried the pencil trick. Same thing, only from the outset I could only O/C to a couple of values. EG. I could O/C to 950, but not 900 or 850. After a couple of days, nothing.

I don't know to this day if it was thermal grease interacting with the connections, or just that the graphite does degrade under heat. My solution was a conductive pen. 16 bucks, and itll last you a life-time. Works great now!
