My system would stall during the installation of Windows XP SP2

I could not install Windows XP SP2. It would stall during the "Installing Windows" stage. Which is before it requests the product code.

The interesting thing was that I did not have any trouble installing SP1 and trying to upgrade to SP2 via the Windows Update website caused the same problem.

The fix was replacing the boot drive.
