My system seems really slow compared to comparable systems!

I have a slot a tbird 850 mhz processor on an asus k7m motherboard. I also have 256 mb of ram and a 75 GXP hd. My video card is a geforce 2 pro 64mb. My gaming seems sluggish in pretty much all games, counterstrike performance is pretty bad too. At 1024X768 in CS should i expect a constant 99 fps all the time or less, my vsync is always off btw? It just seems my framerates are really low comapred to others. I installed the miniport, dx 8.1, and i have the 12.90 dets.

One thing thats probably going to do it is that on the slota TBirds the cache isnt running at the full speed of the processer, instead its only running at like 1/3 or some number like that of the actual processer speed. Thats going to give you a fair performance hit right there. Secondly, your running on one of the original Thunderbird motherboards, a Slota board even, which wouldnt be compareable in speed to say a KT266A or a KT133A so your going to take a hit there. Finally, why are you running the old 12 series of drivers? Didnt NVIDIA release some performance enhancements in the 20.x series?

Another thing I just remembered, your motherboard and processer are going to be slower because the Slota TBirds run on a 100Mhz bus dont they? Same with the RAM? If so...that'll give you a big decrease in speed compared to a SocketA Tbird running at the same speed.

Download the GeForce Tweak Utility at guru3d.com. Play around with your GeForce settings and you should be able to attain 99 fps.
