This is my system

Asus A7V Rev 1.02
TBird 800@800
128MB PC133
15GB IBM 75GXP
32MB Asus V6800 Geforce DDR
Asus 40x CDROM
Floppy
Accton 100MB NIC
SB Vibra 128

I have a problem in that I randomly get a beeping noise from my speakers. Just one beep at random times. The temps of my parts (Celsius) are CPU 45 (idle), MB 33, and Video Card 61 (idle). Can anyone think what could be causing this beeping noise to ocurr???????

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Are you sure it's not some software that makes the noises? For instance, mIRC beeps when you receive a new message or someone wants to send you a file. Also check your Windows Sound Theme and make sure you don't have any "actions" that make the system beep (I just click "Delete", and it removes all sounds).

Try this in SAFE mode, still get the beeps?

MUTE all your speakers in software from the Control Panel. If the sounds are of some "problematic" nature, they will probably still remain (which is a clue ;)

You probably have a small Keebler elf in there he's trying to signal to let him out...were you eating cookies near your computer lately? Leave the cover off for a while and he will probably leave when you are not looking.

Turn the computer off and place an empty bottle with the stopper removed on the floor in front of it. Leave it overnight. Sneak in at sunrise, put the stopper in the bottle, and you will have the little ah heck captured. Good Luck!

Thanks for the replys.

I have set No Sounds on the Sounds/Multimedia thing in Control Panel and the only things running are explorer, systray, and point32(intellimouse drivers). These beeps don't seem to correspond with anything happening. It is not because of temps rising because they are still the same.

Is 61 degrees to hot for a v6800??

Thanks

do you have the fan monitoring set in BIOS? If so thats it. BIOS monitors the fan RPM and if it changes much it will beep. Most fans are not steady enough for the BIOS alarm.

Do you some sort of temperature monitor program running, like Motherboard Monitor. If so, check the alarm threshhold temp. When it beeps you may be meeting or exceeding that threshold temp, and hence the beep is the alarm going off.

Do you have a USB keyboard? I had this problem once, and read somewhere that there might be a static/grounding problem with the USB extension cable I was using. Sure enough, I chucked the USB extension I was using and haven't had a problem since. Just a thought! :)
