i just got my Antec SX830 from onvia(got it before prices went up ;)) i opened it up and saw that i had an extra removeable hidden drive bay. am i supposed to have this? i thought that was the only difference between the 830 and the 1030

the UPS guy's must have been really tossing this thing around as some of the little baggies of screws and standoffs opened and now i have to go and find them all in the bottom of the case :|

edit: ok, i just plugged the power supply in with the two fans connected to make sure it works(i won't have my motherboard until tomorrow or the day after) and i pushed the power button. nothing turned on. so i tried a different plug, same thing. i checked the voltage selector, it was set at 110. is the PS bad? :( :|

edit2: i connected the wrong wires, it's workin now

it won't supply power unless the motherboard is attached to it or you have it hot wired. to see if mine was working I ran a small piece of wire from the green line to one of the black ones.. this lets the powersupply run when it is not plugged into anything.. make sure its an insulated piece of wire and not a paperclip or something that may short of something and screw up the PS.

that's weird...my ps is fine. mine also came w/ an extra drive bay. i guess whoever bought their case from onvia did because both my friends' cases came w/ an extra drive bay too

was it an error? or was the demand so high for the SX830s that they just replaced the front bezel on the 1030s and passed them off as 830s

Are you for real? How in the heck do you think the powersupply is supposed to turn on with the power button with no motherboard unless, like AMD4ME2 said, it is hot wired. If you do not have a motherboard in the case the power button lead wont be connected to anything.

I don't mean any offense by this, I am just suprised that you are asking this. if you did not know this, I sure hope you have someone else installing your motherboard and other devices.
