My surround sound wont work :(

I have an ASUS A8V Deluxe and These logitech Z-5300E 5.1 Surround Sound speakers. I just reformated my PC and i installed the audio drivers from ASUS's website and everything...all the speakers are plugged in and i have the computer set to 5.1 surround sound config but when i run a test only the 2 front speakers work!! Whats going on!? Anyone know how to get all of them working?

Exactly how have you connected the speakers to the mb?

You probably need an anlog connection (3 x miniplugs) rather than coax digital (1 x RCA)

test some dolby digital encoded material. Sometimes you only get surround sound from PC based audio solutions from analog connections. Dolby digital should work through digital though.

Are you sure you.. set up the speakers in 5.1 in the control panel, sound effect?

Hmm...nevermind..it seems to work with everything else (games, music, movies) but not in the test...oh well...thanks anyway guys! 😀

thats cause of the limitations of a digital out on computers...I don't think games should actually. work though....movies should...it might be just putting it into a pro logic type effect...but I am not familiar with your integrated audio

His speakers don't have a decoder in them so they can't use a digital signal.

don't the integrated audio chips usually do that nowadays? I use my audigy so I am not up on these very much but I know many have digital outs...I guess I assumed that they also had a DD decoder in them.
