I posted about this a while ago, and promised pics. A month later, here they are:

Front - The sparkle on the left is real!
From rear
Leather Interior :p
Dash
Rice? - Nah. STi :D
Wagons rule!

These were taken after a 400 mile blast through snow and salt so it aint clean. I cleaned it later today and then I lost the light. (Well, I took the scenic route, hard not to :p)

It's quoted at 215hp/215lb/ft stock, but these numbers are known to be conservative. With the STi exhaust it probably pushes between 220 and 230. A rolling road will tell me in the future, maybe after I remove the centre exhaust section and it's CAT, by which time it'll be faster still :D.

BHP, which are the same. PS is different and is the German way of quoting. PS is like .97 of an HP AFAIK.

dyno it, I doubt the STi exhaust adds 15 hp.... even thought it CLAIMS to... without dyno charts before and after of the car it's installed in you can't really believe anything.

Yes, your exhaust adds 15HP to the wheels.

15 hp is unlikely, but 5-10 would be about right. The biggest advantage I found from putting an exhaust on my WRX is not necessarily peak hp but that the turbo spools a little sooner and that the acceleration is smoother/more linear. Plus the sound (even though I went "stealth") is fscking awesome.

Does it say 'to the wheels' in the 1st post? No. Do you understand the EJ20 and what performance is liberated by changing the exhaust? No.

Green Civic indeed.... :p

Yeah, it spools up at about 3000. And I DID say 220-230, so I was giving a range of between 5hp(unlikely) to 15hp to allow for the conservative rating from Subaru in the first place.

I have Dyno links that show standard UK turbo's giving 240+ on the dyno with no mods.

Tru nuff. I find it better looking than the new imprezzas, because the headlights are just less goofy looking. Problem is that that generation was slow as crap in north america and peaked at 165ish Horsepower. Not "slow as crap", but definitely no speed demon. DivideByZero has the luxury of the nice appearance plus real speed.

Does anything matter except at the wheels? No.
Am I qualified to call BS on any "estimated performance" from bolt-ons? Yes.
If that's a cat-back, that's one thing - but all I can see is the big "STi" fartpipe on the back. ;)

It's an axle-back. Unlike Honda, Subaru exhausts are relatively well-designed from the factory (it's already 2.5"), so while replacing the stock "cork" muffler does a lot of good, replacing the stock rear mid-pipe (the only extra piece that would make it a cat-back) does almost nothing.

Whatever is produced at the crank is put through to the wheels minus X% for drivetrain. So, unless you have a logic circuit out today you'll find that this will translate into more power at the wheels.

That 'Fart pipe' is made by Subaru. The STi arm of Subaru (They don't just muck around with steel tubes all day. Ever heard of WRC?). It reduces back pressure which enables the turbo to spool up faster, thus providing a wider powerband AND some more HP. Also, and I'm sure you won't know this as all you bang on about is NA 4 pots, the Impreza's flat-four EJ20 has unequal length headers. This produces a very nice offbeat sound, not a 'fart'.

Your irrational dislike of anything faster than your 75hp Civic is getting old...

Although it helps even further with turbo spool as you get rid of 1 of the 2 CATs. The UK version has 2, I dunno about other regions, so can run happily with 1 and still pass emmisions.

The PPP (Prodrive pack) does exactly what I plan. Rear (done, BY THE DEALER BTW), centre straight through, no cat, and then a re-map for about 240+ minimum.

Your point being? You can make all you like at the crank, but unless you can put that down to the wheels, it isn't worth squat. Granted, an AWD Subaru will put it down quite nicely, but drivetrain loss is still not a "guaranteed X%" under every possible condition.

Right, no one knows what STi is outside the Almighty UK.

If you'd just said "it's an axle-back" that would be fine - but if you do the Super-Ultra-Mega-Zoom-In shot of your tip dragging three inches off the asphalt, what else am I supposed to focus on? And by the way, factory rice is still rice. What makes it not rice is the presence of the rest of the the exhaust system. And oh yes, it's not backpressure you're looking to reduce, it's exhaust velocity.

Your irrational dislike of anything faster than your 75hp Civic is getting old...

Step away from the crackpipe and you might find that I have appreciation for all manners of vehicles. You're just upset because you haven't had your tea and crumpets yet. I simply called BS on the "Exhaust = +15HP" claim - you started getting all huffy.

You are wrong on the Backpressure as far as this engine is concerned.

Oh, you didn't know it was from the Axle back? But you were so sure of yourself and your incredible automobile knowledge I would think it fair game that you knew this. If you didn't you shouldn't be so rash as to assume you know it all, as now you have been called on BS, and YOU don't like it. :D

The Zoom wasn't for your pleasure. Don't like it? Move on to another thread to bash someone elses opinions/possesions. There is a thread out there with your craps name on it, I'm sure.

It's easy to knock other people and make stupid 'tea and crumpet' remarks, but to be honest, I have never seen you say anything nice about anybody or anything they own on this forum. You always try for the laugh with "crackpipe" this and "rice" that, or by knocking what people enjoy, but you're just getting to be a cliche.
