so I went out and bought a refurb xbox a few weeks ago, and finally got around to using it today...i turned it on, forgot about it for a few hours, then came back to play some soul calibur 2..5mins into it IT FREEZES. Same thing with Rallisport...

sooooooo, i open the case up and my problems are gone. Stupid move as I likely lost my warranty, but I probably don't have any means of recourse now, do i?

..Why would you open up the case if it didn't work?

Unless you opened it up previously for *other* reasons.

well, I was gonna mod this one anyway...got the necessary stuff, its just a matter of getting around to it...

i dunno WHY...a horrid lapse of judgement i suppose...

main reason I posted here though was I thought people may have the same experiences with their v1.0 xboxes and may know of a cheap "fix" (maybe get a fan that provides better airflow, which is probably a logical thing to do.....)

Case doesn't always need to be open to do the hd-swap

thats not the problem...i know how to swap hd's (as mentioned earlier, i've done some stuff with xboxes i'm just not hardcore into the scene), but the problem at hand was the fact that my xbox apparently overheats and freezes

My xbox online freezes when I host a game of Ghost Recon with "explosives" on. Other than that it never locks up.

Hook up a few batteries in a parrallel and put em on a 12v comp fan with a lil switch from radioshack. Dremel A hole in the top and put a lil chromo fanguard on top of it.
