it takes balls to surf porn at work, but it takes an extra set to do it on someone else's machine

Yes you can think. That generally helps. In that thinking you will probably realize that reporting him to HR will absolve yourself of any reprocussions and probably get him fired.

no.. i was logged on, and away from desk

i dont know how you would prove it then. I suggest locking your PC if you have NT/2000 or putting on a 2 min screen saver PW if you run 98.

Cover your ass.

Did he log on with your passwrd?

if so get it changed and tell the IT department what happened

Tell your boss.

THEN tell that person, as they could fudge up your story if you ONLY tell them.

ALL OF THIS IS ASSUMING YOUR COWORKER IS AN AS*HOLE

If he is a friend, tell him not to do it again, and find out a way to cover your ass just in cae

Just make sure it doesn't happen again...

That command will lock your pc immediately

just clear your internet history and cache, etc. unless your company has some sort of firewall that logs "inappropriate" sites or something, you should be good. i doubt that even if they were using these "packet sniffers", that they would be actively using them searching the company's logs for inappropriate usage. takes too much time and resources to make it worth it.

Don't proxy servers log that stuff? I'm sure you'll be fine though.

hahaha...not to make fun, but I guess if you're going to surf porn at work and you're afraid of getting fired, doing it on someone else's computer is an excellent idea!! hehe oohhh my...

If he was just "messin around", why wasn't he doing it on HIS computer? You think it was because he knew that would have been a bad idea?

What do you mean he didn't realize what he was doing? Was he on like, cnn.com or something, and they messed up a link that ended up showing some porn pics?

Content filter and logging. If he/she went there (which they obvioiusly did) your already screwed. Let's hope your network admin isn't doing this or he doesn't check his logs; if he did, you wouldn't have the chance to post here. (Deny all to your IP address, then come in and slap you with a pink slip)

The other posts explaining how to delete your internet history etc.. that will only get rid of the evidence on your pc. The firewall already has you logged and again, if your admin is watching the network, he/she already knows how much time your PC was on these sites.

1min > less = possible mistake you (your buddy) didn't know what they where doing
5min > more = obviously your there for a reason and still surfing for pics.

Just like Kranky said and I'll just reenforce it. If your admin is watching, your screwed dude. If it was on my network, you would of been tracked and asked why you walked away from your workstation without locking the console or logging off. (Policy and Procedures)

Tell your friend or whomever it was to quit it, because that's how friends get you fired or into serious trouble!

Just my .02,
