over the summer i was driving to cross-country practice(16:18 3 mile-PR!) and on i was going 45, the posted speed limit. there was a tractor dealership on the left side of the road with a bus waiting to pull out. i didnt think anything of it until she started to pull out right in front of me. i slammed on the brakes and i couldnt stop. the road had loose gravel all over it. i slammed into the school bus loaded with kids in the front right tire. it wasnt my car. it was my sisters brand new nissan altima that i was borrowing for practice. the car was totaled. the hood was bent up and there were 10 different colors of fluids on the road. the kids were laughing at me and the bus driver came out and said "sorry! i didnt see you coming!" me and my passenger both coudnt get our doors opened, and since the engine was still running and there was fluid everywhere, we climbed out our windows for fear of explosion. the cops came(4 squad cars, 2 ambulances, and a fire engine) and cleaned up the mess. the police shut off route 64, a major highwaw right at about 4:30 when people were trying to get home. i felt horrible for them. there was a rather large investigation to whether i was speeding or not. she claimed i was going 60(i dont know how she can tell by just looking) the cops measured my skids and did a test with a squad car in the same spot of the accident. they concluded i was going anywhere from 44-49. so i was in the clear in terms of that. i had to sleep on this for 2 nights as the bus driver dragged out the investigation. me a 17 year old with school and a girlfriend(who dumped me about 5 days later
) and cross-country. i did not need this. i was a nervous wreck for those 2 days. no sleep at all. i got called down to the office in school and told to go into the board room. there were school officials and police waiting for me. they questioned me and my passenger more and then i left to go back to my classroom. i found out later that day that i did not recieve a ticket and the bus driver did. she lost her job and had a 1000 dollar fine.
