My state sucks for lotteries

We are surrounded by states that have lotteries.
In the previous election, our governor ran on the platform that lottery would be up to a vote by the people. The state assembly killed that idea.

Those bastards in the assmbly are in the pockets of those states around us. They want North Carolina dollars fueling their lottos because it is outside money coming in to the coffers. And they have the gall to say they are protecting us from our own inherent sinning, foolish ways.

Gambling sucks in general. It generates a TON of revenue for the gubment and the engines but it don't really cycle back to the masses the way they say it does. The only time I buy lottery tickets is around Xmas time to give as gifts...they make good stocking stuffers. Other than that, it's not worth my time or money....

Our last governor ran on the platform of allowing the people to vote on a state lottery. He was elected but when the vote came it was overwhelmingly voted down by the people.

Kinda makes you wonder why he got elected in the first place.
