That is inexcusable! She shouldn't be putting that kind of pressure on you. I suggest you immediately throw her out of your house and send her to mine. 😛

So I'm thinking abouut a 19" to 21" in the $1000 range. Haven't paid much attention to LCD's for the last couple of years since I got the Planar. What are the best quality ones out there right now?

Help me out, I need to get one ordered or I'll be using an old 15" CRT!

Here's a good link about LCD discussion. I have the Dell 2001Fp and I love it.

I have a Planar 201 - quite satisfied. The Dell is a faster panel I think and (obviously) no unhappy users on this board.
The difference between 19s and 20s is the larger screens typically have higher native resolution; UXGA.

I just created an off topic post here about HDTV. But basically what is it in terms of an LCD Computer display with a DVI input?

Like ma' super crappy quote editing job? 😀

The guys I work with who deal with corporate hardware just went through an evaluation of LCD panels. The winner was the Dell FP series - and it wasn't just based on price. Units ranged in size from 15" to 23" including a huge Sun panel. Dell was selected for the 15" to 20" ranges. Other vendors looked at included Viewsonic, Samsung, HP, IBM, Sun, Nec, Eizo, Planar, Sharp, BenQ and a few others. Quality, Support and Price were the primary requirements. Global support was a must. Units had to have at least one DVI connection and could not have an external power adapter. More than 200 units were evaluated. I know it sounds like a lot but the actual purchased number will be close to 100K units over the next three years. Alomost all of the guys I spoke to the the Dell was the best for the price.

If the Dell 2001FP is anything like its predecessor (2000FP), I would go for that one. I am still amazed at how beautiful and vibrant the screen is with a DVI connection.

Viewsonic makes a nice monitor, but the warranty sevice sucks. It took me 8 weeks to get my LCD replaced, and only after numerous phone calls and emails. You basically can't be nice to them. Just get mean from the beginning and they'll cave in.

Sorry I've been so long getting back to the tread, been out of town this week. Got in tonight and saw that all the monitors @ dell had a 10% discount. Pulled the trigger on the PLANAR PX191, I know most of you would say that the Dell 20" is the way to go but... the little lady told me to wait a month and pick up another PX191. 😱 Dual monitor 19" goodness.

Well I've had my PX191 for a few days now and it is stunning! It came last Thursday, the text is even crisper than with my old Planar and it is so much brighter. I am really looking forward to picking up another one. The pivot feature is very cool, it makes for very easy work on Word doc's and web surfing. All and all I'm am very pleased.

You'll love dual-screens; I use two 17" CRTs and I don't know where I'd be without the extra desktop space. The ability to "throw" a window out of the way onto the second screen is truly great 😀

Okay, I'm leaving for Wyoming now, just in case she does have a sister!😀
